The North American REFRAC WELLS 2021 Exhibition & Conference where shale operators and upstream service companies will meet with refracturing experts and technology providers in Houston to share the latest results and explore new methods for refracturing wells.
New developments and techniques have prompted a movement towards refracturing depleted or low producing wells to combat against the current challenges in the North American shale market. Producers are now looking at techniques already being used in tight rock and vertical wells to revive a large number of existing shale wells with lower costs of production.
Over time most horizontal wells will produce at a fraction of their initial rates and large volumes of oil and gas will remain trapped within the rocks which could now be extracted through a refracturing process. While the total cost of developing a horizontal well could reach as much as $8 million, the cost of a refracturing project could be as low as 25% of this at around $2 million. In principle the technique appears to be logical, however as low oil prices have presented the challenges of keeping well production up and operating costs down, this conference will have a unique and timely emphasis on de-risking refracturing operations with overall cost reduction in mind.
With developments in technical know-how, refracturing methods offer new hope for shale operators looking to maintain economic margins in the current low-price environment. This year’s REFRAC WELLS 2021 conference is set to become North America’s leading event exclusively for shale operators and a large array of service providers to explore the opportunities in refracturing existing wells to accelerate production and enhance ultimate recovery.
The Wood Pellet Association of Canada, together with Canadian Forest Industries, Canadian Biomass, and Pulp & Paper Canada, will be hosting this year’s Wood Products Safety Summit in June 2021 (specific date TBA)
The Wood Products Safety Summit is targeted at all forestry manufacturing sectors including lumber, OSB, pellets, and pulp. The program will benefit production personnel, maintenance staff, management and senior executives.
Topics include:
• Improving safety culture
• Best practices in managing Combustible gas
• Combustible gas and confined space entry
• Human computer interaction (HCI) and use of alarms
• Dust explosion protection
• Overview of ISO safety standards for solid biofuel
• Process safety management
• Job competencies for a safer forest industry
• Policy and occupational health and safety regulation
• And more
Due to ongoing COVID-19 uncertainty and travel restrictions, EventWorx Corporation has made the difficult decision to reschedule the Oil Sands Conference & Trade Show to June 2-3, 2021.
