News

The Joint Review Panel that is assessing the environmental effects of the proposed Frontier Oil Sands Mine Project has issued revised submission filing deadlines for the upcoming hearing on September 25.

On June 6, the Review Panel issued a Notice of Hearing indicating how to request participation in the hearing along with a preliminary schedule of filing submission dates for the hearing – the first of which on Sept. 25 will be at MacDonald Island (Miskanaw Ballroom), 1 CA Knight Way, Fort McMurray, Alta., at 9 a.m.

The panel is planning to schedule a portion of the hearing in Fort Chipewyan in early to mid-October to accommodate requests by the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and the Mikisew Cree First Nation that a portion of the hearing take place in their community. The hearing process will be audio-cast and may also be video-cast in order for those who are not able to travel to the hearing sessions to observe the proceedings remotely.

Submissions for Teck is today, Friday July 13, with all others on August 31.

The submission must be sent to Frontier.Review@ceaa-acee.gc.ca.

For efficiency, submissions should be filed as PDF documents with bookmarks, page numbers (with the first page in the document being numbered page one), and optical character recognition.

Submissions should include an estimate of the time required to present direct evidence. The submission should also include the number of presenters and, if experts are to provide evidence at the hearing, must include recent curricula vitae.
