Don Horne

Larson Electronics has announced the release of an explosion proof variable frequency drive with a three-phase 480V AC input/output voltage comparability.

This unit features a 3-wire configuration and is designed for steady speed error and fast torque rise. This unit offers protection from resonance vibrations and an output current of 14 amps.

The EXP-VFD-3P-480-7.5HP-14A-DCM explosion proof variable frequency drive is rated for use in Class I, Divisions 1 and 2; and Class II, Divisions 1 and 2 hazardous locations. This 5.5 kw unit offers accurate AC motor control in industrial facilities and features an operating frequency range of 0 to 400Hz with 7.5 horsepower. This unit is designed for indoor and outdoor use in temperatures ranging from -10˚C to 40˚C.

Larson Electronics’ explosion proof variable frequency drive has a V/F control mode and sensor-less vector control mode with an interior PID controlled automatic energy save running to optimize the V/F curve. The sensor-less vector control mode also features an automatic voltage regulator and automatic current limiting. Suitable applications include speed control of AC motors, industrial machines, hazardous locations and more.
