Shield Industries Ltd has announced the commissioning of its new manufacturing facility in Hythe, Alta.

The new location will be focused on oilfield equipment fabrication such as storage tanks, low pressure vessels, pressure piping and structural steel.

The new facility complements the original Taber location and enhances Shield’s ability to service local Montney and Duvernay focused producers, as well as midstream and service companies in the Peace Region.

The new facility features a Prodevco plasma cutting robot, which significantly cuts costs on structural steel and pipe processing while virtually eliminating human error, giving Shield a major competitive advantage in the fabrication segment.

The new facility can fabricate, paint, coat and finish storage tanks up to 4,000 bbl. as well as other small and large oilfield equipment such as vapour tight tanks, shale bins, pipe racks and sea rings.
