
A worker has been killed during the move of a drilling rig in northern Alberta late Tuesday night.
According to Canadian Press, Cenovus Energy Inc. stated in a press release that the accident happened at its Christina Lake oil sands site, about 350 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
The death – a worker who was employed by one of Cenovus’ third-party contracting companies – involved a hauling truck and occurred as a drilling rig was being moved.
Officials have not released any other details, including the person’s name.

Brett Harris, a Cenovus spokesman, told Canadian Press that the drill rig site has been shut down for an investigation.
