Key U.S. speakers to attend Williston Basin Conference

Lucia Piazza, U.S. Consul General to Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories, will deliver a keynote speech on Tuesday, May 28, providing an update on the oil and gas market in the U.S., and how it may relate to Canada’s position in the market.

The Williston Basin, with reserves lying within eastern Montana, western North Dakota, South Dakota, and southern Saskatchewan, contains the booming Bakken formation with the application of fracking.

Following up Piazza for the Wednesday keynote will be Shawn Bennett, deputy assistant secretary at Office of Oil and Natural Gas, U.S. Department of Energy.

Top Canadian industry leaders from government, operating companies, research institutes and technology innovators will highlight opportunities and technological innovations that lie within Saskatchewan’s borders.

Keynote speakers from Canada include Brad Wall, former Premier of Saskatchewan; Gary Doer, the 23rd Canadian Ambassador to the United States and former Premier of Manitoba. Doer will also sit on a panel with Bennett.

The Business Conference portion of the event will featured panel discussions among top operators and technology innovators and researchers. Applying the best technologies for recovery methods as well as balancing environmental policies and best practices will be a key proponent of the discussions.

The Technical Conference will feature 41 case studies and papers on the latest developments in research, applied technology and forthcoming innovations.
