Family of chlorine analyzers provides total solutions

Don Horne

Keeping it clean and safe while protecting both people and the environment, the broad family of Chlorine Analyzers from Electro-Chemical Devices (ECD) offers process and plant engineers multiple highly accurate, dependable disinfection and water quality measurement solutions that are easy to install, require minimal maintenance and offer a long-life at a low lifecycle cost.

Designed with advanced amperometric chlorine sensors, ECD’s panel-mounted family of chlorine (Cl2) sensors and full analyzer systems support a wide range of applications for municipal and industrial water disinfection, water quality purification and wastewater effluent treatment. Their highly intelligent, full-featured sensors come factory pre-calibrated, and their versatile transmitters are mounted on a robust front panel with plug-and-play capability, which takes technicians only minutes to install: simply mount, plumb, plug-in and turn-on.

CD80 Chlorine Dioxide

The CD80 Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) Analyzer is designed to monitor free chlorine in drinking water, rinse water, cooling water or other fresh water samples over a standard range from 0.05 to 20 ppm, or 0.01 to 5.00 ppm with the low range sensor. The CD80 is compliant with EPA Method 334.0 for measuring drinking water. CL02 exists as a gas in solution; it does not dissolve like other chlorine compounds and is therefore unaffected by the pH of the solution

TC80 Total Chlorine

The TC80 Total Chlorine Analyzer monitors total chlorine in drinking water, industrial cooling and rinse water, wastewater or other fresh water samples containing chlorine in a standard range of 0 to 20 ppm.  Its versatile three-electrode amperometric sensor design also can be specified to measure all chlorine species in the water, combining chlorine and free chlorine in a high range of 0.05 to 20 ppm or a low range of 0.005 to 2.000 ppm.

FC80 and FCX80 Free Chlorine

The FC80 Free Chlorine Analyzer and the FM- and ATEX-approved explosion-resistant Model FCX80 are designed to monitor free chlorine (residual chlorine) in municipal drinking water, industrial cooling and rinse water, wastewater or other fresh water samples containing chlorine.  They are available in two optional configurations: either a hi-range of 0.05 to 20 ppm or a low-range of 0.01 to 5.00 ppm unit. They are compliant with EPA Method 334.0

DC80 DeChlorination Analyzer

ECD’s DC80 De-Chlorination Analyzer monitors very low levels of total chlorine (TC) in water that indicates the chlorine has been removed before discharge or release into the environment. It uses a “zero shift” strategy to make the measurement. Since the total chlorine amperometric needs some amount of chlorine for a stable reading, a pump supplies a constant 3 to 5 ppm of total chlorine and the analyzer “zeros” out this offset to measure the difference of the water to be measured compared to the total chlorine supplied.

DCA23 Seawater DeChlorination Analyzer

The DCA23 Seawater DeChlorination Analyzer monitors the chlorination and/or dechlorination of sea water from 0.00 to 2.00 ppm. Sea water is used for cooling in power plants, refineries and salt water air conditioning systems. The analyzer displays the Cl2 ppm level to conform with environmental regulations, and it actually measures the total residual oxidant (TRO) and converts it into an equivalent ppm of chlorine. TRO is defined as the total oxidizing capacity (free and combined) of the sea water that is available after chlorination.
